Setting up your Raspberry Pi
Insert the SD card into your Raspberry Pi.Connect your mouse and keyboard to your pi as there are required for the setup and even using the Raspbian OS further. Now connect a Display to your Raspberry Pi using a HDMI supported display via HDMI cable,If you don’t have a HDMI display, borrow a display from your Friend for some time, you will require a Display only for first set up after the first setup you can use ethernet port of your laptop to connect to Pi and use laptop as command shell or you can use a wifi adapter and connect your Raspberry Pi wirelessly using VNC server.
After connecting all peripherals connect a power source to you raspberry(should not exceed the current limit rated in manual). If the Raspberry pi asks for login and password
Now select the first option of the setup options window, the “Expand Filesystem” option and press enter key. This is done to make use of all space present on the SD card as a full partition. All it does is, expand the OS to fit the entire space on the SD card that can then be used as the storage for the Raspberry Pi.
Now select the second option “Desktop Log in as user ‘pi’ at the graphical desktop” then press enter key after that select “OK” and it will take you back to the “Setup Options”.This makes us able to boot into the desktop Mode like windows, Else it will Boot you into Terminal Window like the command prompt in windows. Now select the “finish” button at the bottom of the page and it should reboot automatically.
After reboot you will see this screen, this is your Raspberry Pi desktop screen. To see if there are any updates available, open LX Terminal and type the command sudo rpi-update this will download updates if there are any.
